Building Leadership Capacity to Achieve DEI Goals (BLC)

Building Leadership Capacity to Achieve DEI Goals

Overview. Successful systemic change in higher education involves understanding campus ecosystems and the use of a complex array of strategies aimed at levers and used by multiple leaders at various levels across campus, from grassroots faculty engagement to presidential vision, student voice, and administrative support that touches departments and units campus wide. This learning series is designed to increase your capacity for leading systemic change using a new, cutting-edge leadership toolkit. The toolkit is designed for leaders across higher education to intentionally map out and engage in systemic change efforts. This learning series will illustrate how to implement the highly adaptable Change Leadership toolkit (CLT) composed of various resources to aid in leading your systemic change process.

Goals. The learning series will focus on supporting institutional change efforts that seek to increase DEI in STEMM higher education. The four-part, online series seeks to increase the ability of individuals to:

      • Set a vision,
      • Form a more effective change team, and
      • Create a change leadership plan that will enable participants to achieve and sustain their DEI goals.

Audience: The learning series is designed to inform the work of the change leaders who are part of SEA Change Institutions that are applying for a SEA Change Bronze Award, which includes deep self-assessment and action planning. More broadly the learning series seeks to inform the work of the DEI focused STEMM higher education change leader community, including NSF ADVANCE and INCLUDES grantees.
